LEADERSHIP - Wrapping Up This Year & Starting Next Year Right

I’ve found that it’s nearly impossible to make any significant improvements to the practice after Thanksgiving and before the New Year.  Everyone is so distracted by the Holidays.

So, after many years of failed attempts at trying to make practice improvements during this season, we finally gave up.  Instead, we focused on tying up loose ends and planning to get a great start in January.

Here’s my unsolicited year end advice: bring any ongoing projects to a good stopping point and block off time in January to meet with your staff to plan 2021.  The second week back is best time because the first week is often busy. Put it on the schedule now.  If you wait till the New Year to set aside time, it’ll be too late.

A full day staff retreat is always best, but if you have reservations about including the staff, consider a half-day or full-day session with the doctors and Office Manager.  My Improving Practice Operations Workbook will prepare you for either meeting.

Happy Holidays!
